I wish I had read this article before my first experience in china. I bought 2 set of 2 wheel walking tractor from a trading company I though was a tractor factory which they were not, because when the thing arrived in Africa some of the implement do not match the tractors. It was a head ache to get in touch with sale representative. I went back to alibaba.com to see where things went wrong. Am planning to buy a bigger tractor may 60=70hp but I want a factory that produce both. Maybe you can help me there.

Hey Tamara,
This kind of company is a trading company, but no matter what kind of company, the business license will indicate the scope of business.

Some trading companies claims that they own some of the factories, how to check that?

I am in a difficult position. I found a manufacturer that has sent me good samples of clothes, however they are a small company. They’ve been in the industry for 2 years, and I believe they are also a trading company as they cannot provide me ISO certificates and third party audit reports. They provided me with documents such as their Company Licence, Bank Certificate, Customs Register and Foreign Trade Licencec however I am not sure how I can verify this. My friends who read chinese says its fine but advised that I may need this notarized (A policy from Amazon). Do all chinese maufacturers or companies need their documents notarized?

I found this company through Alibaba. They suggested that payment through Alibaba is secured. My quantity is very low, say 200 quantities. So it is fine for me to go through them?

Company details below:

Hi Stiward
My name is Tshepo, how will you know whether or not the company you’re trying to verify is fraudulent or not and how do you choose which plan to go with?
Do you give FBL the company name? How does it work exactly?

Hey, Nicole, in fact, it’s not a bad thing to work with a trading company. The point is, It’s not who you work with, but what your MOQ is. If you are just a small business, working with trading companies maybe your good choice. If you try to get a very competitive price, you can work with real factories but must be with the big MOQ.
